Sri Lanka’s sprinter Yupun Abeykoon became first south Asian athlete to finish a 100 meter sprint under 10 seconds with winning a gold at the Resisprint International athletic meet held in Switzerland yesterday. He was breaking the South Asian record for the second time in 2022, official data showed.
Yupun Abeykoon,recorded a time of 9.96 seconds, breaking his own record of 10.06 seconds. . He represented Sri Lanka in the 2021 Olympics and set a record with 10.06 seconds at the International Athletics Meeting Anhalt on May 2022 in Germany.
