Opposition Leader and leader of the SJB, Sajith Premadasa, said in a statement that he would not join the current government, which is an extension of the disdainful Rajapaksa regime, under any condition.

He rejected with contempt the news that Samagi Jana Balavega would join the government.

Warning that this government is pushing the country into an abyss worse than the earlier government, the opposition leader says that soon the nakedness of this failed government will be revealed.

A special statement issued by the opposition leader Sajith Premadasa reads as follows:

Pro-government groups have created and socialized the latest news that Samagi Jana Balawegaya is preparing to unite with the government on the basis of privileges such as sharing ministerial positions.

We completely reject this fake news and condemn it with utmost contempt, just like the fake news itself.

We warned from the beginning that the current government, which is an extension of the existing disdain Rajapaksa regime, is pushing our country into an abyss worse than the previous government, and soon the nakedness of this government’s failed program will undoubtedly be revealed.

The government, which is becoming a shadow government of the SLPP, has been trying to implement its failed agenda by spreading fake news about Samagi Jana Balawegaya.

Those spin doctors who initially continuously published fake news that a group from the Samagi Jana Balavega would join the government are using as their latest strategy that the Samagi Jana Balavega will join the government for the coveted position of Prime Minister.

It’s a blatant lie. It’s baseless, cooked-up news.

The decisive dividing line between those gangs and the SJB is that they believe in deals and distortions, while we believe in people’s power and recovery.

We firmly believe that our country cannot be rescued from this unfortunate fate through an election. It should be emphasized to the few mercenary media who pointed out that they should learn lessons from the civilized media operating in this country.

Instead of socializing any illusions because of the price paid to them, we suggest that they use the media wisely and ethically.

However, we sympathize with their efforts to popularize their master’s voice. Let us only emphasize that people cannot change the truth, but the truth can change people.

We emphasize to the government that every passing second is decisive for the fate of the lives of the innocent and helpless people of our country, and instead of allocating time for making the lives of those people better, our indignation and displeasure are strongly expressed for engaging in deals, conspiracies, and low-level politics in an arbitral manner.
