This week for the first time it was revealed before the Presidential Commission of Inquiry into the Easter attack that Zaharan Hashim had planned to carry out the Easter Sunday bombing using 20 suicide bombers.
It was also revealed during the interrogation of a member of Zaharan’’s group who was arrested that they were preparing to carry out a wave of attacks in three stages after the first attack.
This information was revealed by an officer of the Anti-Terrorism and Investigation Division while giving evidence before the Presidential Commission of Inquiry into the Easter attack yesterday (16).
The official also testified that by March 2019, there was a conflict between Zaharan Hashim, the leader of the National Tawheed Jamaat, and Naufar Moulavi for leadership.
The officer further stated that this was revealed during the interrogation of a member of Zaharan’s group who was arrested after the attack.
