A tragic incident unfolded at Ragama Hospital as an autopsy confirmed the cause of death of a twenty-three-year-old mother who had sought treatment for an abdominal disorder.
The woman, identified as Hansika Sajani Perera, a resident of Jaela North Batagama, passed away due to an allergic reaction allegedly triggered by an injection administered by the hospital.
The inquest into the matter was conducted by Coroner S. P. D. N. Senananda at Ragama Teaching Hospital.
Forensic Officer J.C.B. Polonwala, responsible for conducting the post-mortem examination, concluded that the woman’s demise resulted from an allergic response to a vaccine. It was determined that a pathogen had entered her body, leading to the fatal reaction.
