The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) has arrested a 43-year-old woman after she had released a video on a social media site containing hateful content about Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith. According to Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana the woman was arrested in the Battaramulla area today (18).
The Catholic Church had also released a statement in this regard. Condemning an attempt by the woman to tarnish the image of the Archbishop of Colombo, Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith the Catholic Church said that the claims made by the woman are discriminatory and misleading.
The Archbishop’s office said that a complaint has been filed with the relevant authorities to take legal action against the woman.
