There is a grave risk of breaking the Samagi Jana Balavega if they express their willingness to form an all-party government.
The conflict arose after a group of parliamentarians, including Dr Harsha de Silva, informed the leadership that an all-party government should unite the forces and give the necessary impetus to the President to build the country and revive the collapsed economy.
However, the party’s deputy leader, Sarath Fonseka, Ashok Abeysinghe, and others have expressed an opinion against an all-party government.
Party insiders say that a group of SJB MPs are ready to function as independents if they join the all-party government, which has neither a specific time frame nor an idea of an interim government.
A group of MPs against the all-party government have reportedly met and discussed the imminent next step of the party.
The Parliamentarians are meeting today (9) under the chairmanship of the party leader, Sajith Premadasa, to resolve the difference of opinion created within the Samagi Jana Balavega.
