The 21 st amendment is likely to go before the Cabinet of Ministers on Monday.

Nevertheless, the abolition of the Executive Presidency will not come up for discussion since it is an arduous journey which may require a referendum.

The Party Leaders are poised to discuss issues about barring dual citizens from entering Parliament and re-introducing independent commissions. They would also make arrangements to get Parliament to endorse those clauses in the 21st amendment.

Meanwhile, a group of Parliamentarians representing the SLPP have pointed out that restricting Presidential powers and provisions relating to duel citizens could come later. What is essential at this juncture is to resolve the people-centric issues than the more intricate issues.

Justice Minister Wijedasa Rajapaksa, in the meantime, has said that the clause barring duel citizens from entering Parliament and holding other vital positions in the government will make its way to the cabinet come what may.
