In an inquiry made by Lankasara, the Minister said that the amendments to the Constitution had been submitted to the Cabinet on several occasions and that the final draft had been prepared taking into account all those proposals.

The Minister said that the proposal to deprive a dual citizen of the opportunity to represent Parliament as well as the empowerment of independent commissions have been included in the bill.

The Minister said that the Bill would be tabled in Parliament as soon as it was passed in the Cabinet and that it did not contain any provisions for a referendum.
