Udaya Gammanpila, Leader of the Pivithuru Hela Urumaya (JHU) stresses that a ban should be imposed on private vehicles which exceed the engine capacity 2000CC. He further emphasized despite the risk of the country becoming inactive due to the current fuel crisis, the Parliamentarians should bring in a law banning these vehicles.

He said it was a common sight for government ministers and politicians to travel in luxury vehicles even to receive foreign aid, adding that the time had come for all, including MPs and ministers, to set an example.

He stressed that if the government does not intervene to manage the current fuel crisis through study, the people of the country could be in dire straits with dire consequences.

He pointed out that the government office system should be closed at least two days a week, the school system should be closed at least two days and the online system of sending children for education should be expedited to reduce government expenditure.
