Weligama PS Chairman ‘Midigama Lasa’ Shot Dead in Broad Daylight

Weligama Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman Lasantha Wickramasekera, popularly known as Midigama Lasa, was shot dead in his office this morning (22).

According to police, two unidentified gunmen entered the Chairman’s office pretending to obtain his signature. While he was about to sign a letter, the assailants opened fire at him as he sat at his desk. They then fled the scene on a motorcycle.

Mr. Wickramasekera, who sustained critical injuries in the shooting, was rushed to the Matara Hospital. However, hospital sources confirmed that he succumbed to his injuries shortly after admission.
