UNP nominates party activists to fill four governor vacancies

The United National Party has nominated new governors for several provinces.

TheUNP and the SLPP have shared these positions between the two parties.

According to the plan, the UNP will get four positions out of nine, while the other five are for the SLPP.

Accordingly, the United National Party received the governorships of South, North-West, East and Central Provinces. The SLPP will hold the posts of the governor of North, North Central, Western, Sabaragamuwa and Uva provinces.

Reports said that Palitha Rangebandara is to take over the North Western Province governorship replacing Admiral of the Fleet Wasantha Karnagoda.

Ashoka Dhanawansa is likely to take the governorship of the Southern Province from Dr Willie Gamage.

The names of KK Piyadasa and Shantini Kongahage are under consideration to replace Central Province Governor Lalith U Gamage. The United National Party will also appoint the Eastern Governor.
