The Matugama police have apprehended a thero who is an undergraduate student, for the possession of heroin drugs this afternoon (19).
Acting on a tip-off received by the Matugama Crime Division Station Commander, law enforcement discovered 60 milligrams of heroin concealed within a polythene cover in Matugama city.
The 24-year-old Thero resides in the renowned temple area of Vaskaduwa and is reportedly pursuing a degree at a university in Colombo. The suspect was taken into custody and was slated to appear before the Matugama Magistrate’s Court.
The operation was conducted by Inspector Udayanga, the Chief of the Crime Division Station, under the supervision of Matugama Headquarters Police Inspector Parakrama Udawatta.
