Ratmalane Anju, an underworld figure believed to be connected to drug trafficking, murder and other crimes has fled to France along with his family and an associated called Dharme, Police said.
According to sources while Anju and Dharme had lived in Dubai previously they are now said to be living in a rural village in France, along with Anju’s wife and children. Police said though they were based in Dubai they had been travelling around the world, moving from place to place.
The INTERPOL division at the CID has already taken steps to issue are red notice on him, a senior official told Lankasara.
Recently the focus has been drawn to Anju due to his connection to a number of underworld crimes in the country. He has bee accused of ordering the hit on the father of Cricketer Dananjaya Silva, former Municipal Member Ranjan Silva.
The main rival of underworld figure Roha who has now been imprisoned, Anju had been able to flee the country and live a luxurious life in Dubai.
Police believed he also had a connection to the shooting at a restaurant in Ratamalana recently and a number of his associates were arrested recently by the Police, another associate named Raja was killed in a shoot out with the Police. Anju is even believed to have issued death threats to the Mount Lavinia ASP.
