Two members of the Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) were recently arrested by the Bambalapitiya Police for driving under the influence of alcohol, Lankasara reliably learns. They were produced before the court and released on bail.
One of the arrested doctors serves on the staff of the Minister of Health, while the other was a candidate for the position of Assistant Secretary in the recent GMOA elections but was defeated.
The arrests took place after they attended a party following the official function of the Nutritionist Doctors’ Association held in Colombo, where the Minister of Health was the chief guest.
