Two People Suddenly Dies at a Party in Nelum Kuluna Restaurant

The Maradana Police have initiated a thorough investigation into the untimely deaths of a young man and a young woman who fell ill during a party at a restaurant in Nelum Kulun, Colombo.

According to a senior police officer leading the investigation, the victims have been identified as 27-year-old Hettiarachchi Rasangika Rukshani, a manager at a beauty salon, and 27-year-old Samindu Tiranga Fernando, a resident of Dehiwala.

The two individuals became unwell after consuming drugs at the party and were promptly rushed to the Colombo National Hospital by on-site personnel. Despite receiving medical attention, both victims tragically passed away while undergoing treatment.

Preliminary magisterial investigations into the deaths were conducted by the Maligakanda Magistrate, who ordered the police to submit the post-mortem examination reports to the Office of the Forensic Medical Officer.

Meanwhile, Dona Rasika Nilanthi, the mother of one of the deceased, has expressed suspicion regarding her daughter’s death. Additionally, a young man claiming to be Rasangika’s boyfriend has informed the police that seven individuals, including the deceased, had consumed some form of drugs at the party.

In response to the incident, a dedicated team led by Police Constable Samantha (49602) is conducting comprehensive investigations under the direction of Maradana Police Station Chief Inspector Ishantha Kumara Apalakotuwa.
