A reliable source revealed to Lankasara that two powerful politicians of the United National Party who held ministerial posts during the last government are still being accorded privileges including vehicles.
It is said that both these former ministers represent the Southern Province and one of them is a person who was given a high post in the recent reshuffle of the UNP.
Although these two politicians were defeated in the last general election, they still have three vehicles provided by the government and it is reported that several powerful politicians of the present government are assisting them.
Of these, one person was given two vehicles and the other person was given one vehicle.
It is reported that this UNP strongman had even arrived at the recent party reorganization meeting in a luxury vehicle provided by the government.
It is said that they are entitled to this privilege in return for the assistance provided by the then government to take a conciliatory approach in the face of various judicial proceedings and allegations of corruption that they faced while in the present government.
