Two 17-Year-Old A/L Students Die by Suicide

Two 17-year-old girls, who were not only classmates but also close friends, from the Periyaparanthan area of Kilinochchi took their own lives by hanging themselves today (17).

The two girls, identified as Suresh Kumar Thanigai (17) and Lokeswaran Tamalini (17), were found lifeless, having hanged themselves from a beam in the kitchen of Tamalini’s residence.

Alongside the devastating scene, law enforcement discovered a letter believed to have been written by the two girls before their suicide.

The letter stated that no one should be held accountable for their tragic deaths and conveyed their despair over life, which they felt held no further purpose.

Both victims were diligent students who had recently completed their A/L examinations and were attending advanced level tutoring classes while awaiting their results.

The circumstances leading to this tragic decision remain a source of deep concern for those who knew them.

In light of the tragic incident, the bodies of the deceased have been taken into the custody of the police and transferred to the Kilinochchi District Hospital for further investigation.

Kilinochchi police authorities have initiated an investigation into this devastating incident.
