The entire railway service is at risk of a standstill due to the rapid spread of Covid-19 among the Railway staff, sources said to Lankasara. Due to the situation trade unions have suggested suspending the entire train service for some time.
According to the railway sources, there will be a discussion between the General manager and the management of the Railway Department and trade unions today. Sources speculate that an appropriate decision will be taken in this discussion.
As of yesterday, 597 railway employees had contracted Covid-19
