A devastating accident occurred when a bus traveling from Polonnaruwa to Akkareipatthu broke through a wooden bridge in Manampitiya, plunging into the river below.
The accident has resulted in the loss of 10 lives, with nearly 40 others sustaining serious injuries.
The Director of Polonnaruwa Hospital has confirmed the unfortunate deaths of eight individuals as a result of the accident.
The injured passengers are currently receiving medical attention, with rescue operations being carried out to aid those affected.
