Total vaccination above age 30 in western province is assured by end of this month

Vaccination of all citizens above age 30 living in the Western province would be completed by the end of this month Prasanna Ranatunga, Minister of Tourism and Civil Aviation said today (17).

The Minister also said that steps will be taken to vaccinate teachers and pre-school teachers in the province while participating in the Covid vaccination program for tourist industry people in the Ella area today (17).

The Minister further said
“In the recent past, the country was shut down to protect the health of the people. Vaccination had not started at that time. Now the President is taking over the vaccination work under him and working with the Ministry of Health. Everyone in the BOI zones has been vaccinated by now.
The country will receive the required number of vaccines for pre-school teachers as well as those over 30 in the country by the end of this month.

At the same time, there is a huge demand from foreign tourists to come to our country. When this vaccination informs the world about it, they come to our country without fear.

In the Ella area, we have estimated that more than 2,000 people are directly and indirectly involved in the tourism sector. Because we are preparing to make a new start in the tourism industry from the first of next month.
