Top rung members of the Samagi Jana Balavega have requested the party leader Sajith Premadasa to keep its deputy leader Sarath Fonseka briefly out from the main political activities of the Samagi Jana Balawega party sources said.
Insiders say that such a request was necessitated owing to Sarath Fonseka’s continuous interference in the party activities that obstructed the party’s progress. At times his actions were contrary to that of the party leadership.
The MPs have requested the leadership that the party discipline should come before everything else. Hence, they say it warrants a full investigation into Fonseka’s behaviour for alleged violation of the party discipline and policies.
In an inquiry about this, SJB said that an internal crisis of the Samagi Jana Balavega is inevitable due to Sarath Fonseka. While the party leadership is striving to move forward while retaining its unity, Fonseka is knowingly trying to provoke an internal conflict.
