Minister of Public Security Tiran Alas has ordered Inspector General of Police Deshbandu Tennakoon to conduct an immediate investigation regarding a recent statement made by former President Maithripala Sirisena on criminals of the Easter Sunday bombing.
Former President Maithripala Sirisena said last Friday (22) in Kandy that he knows well who the real criminals were behind the 2019 Easter Sunday bombings.
The former president said that if he is called to court and allowed to give a secret statement, he will reveal the information before the judges and that he is making a secret statement because there is a risk of ruining his children and families if he makes a public statement.
However, opposition MPs Kavinda Jayawardena and Mano Ganesan requested the Criminal Investigation Department yesterday (24) to conduct an immediate investigation regarding the former President’s statement.
