Former Executive Director of the National Lotteries Board (NLB), Thusitha Halloluwa, who had been evading court, was arrested this morning (19).
The Colombo Magistrate’s Court had issued a warrant for his arrest yesterday (18) in connection with the shooting incident and the abduction of several files belonging to Halloluwa while he was travelling in a vehicle in Narahenpita a few months ago.
Colombo Additional Magistrate Pasan Amarasena issued the warrant after considering a request made by the Colombo Crimes Division (CCD), which recently commenced an investigation into the shooting at Halloluwa’s vehicle in the Narahenpita area.
In addition to serving as Executive Director of the National Lotteries Board, Halloluwa also served as the Chief of Staff to the late Minister Mangala Samaraweera during his tenure as Minister of Finance. He later served on the staff of former President Ranil Wickremesinghe.
