President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa is considering to contest the next election from another political party with a group of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) reliable sources revealed to Lankasara today.
Sources further say that the President has assigned the responsibility of finding or forming a new political party to Minister Prasanna Ranatunga.
The President and a group has taken this move following the split within the SLPP over 21st amendment and recent happenings in the political circle .
A group of parliamentarians loyal to the President have pointed out that it would be more appropriate to come forward with a new face than to go among the people with the People’s Front after the recent incidents.
However, all of a sudden, there is intense curiosity among political leaders about the president finding a new political party.
