The President appoints a committee to peruse appointments to state entities.

The President has appointed a committee to monitor changes and new appointments to government institutions or other state-owned entities.

The Ministry secretaries should obtain prior approval from this committee before making such changes.

Secretary to President ,Saman Ekanayake will chair the committee while the other members are Prime Minister’s Secretary Anura Dissanayake and Cabinet Secretary W.M.D.J. Fernando.

Chaminda Kularatne, Additional Secretary to the President, will function as the secretary to the committee.

In the event that it is necessary to change the positions of Chairman and Board of Directors of State Corporations, Statutory Boards and State-Owned Enterprises, it is mandatory to submit nominations to the above committee with justifiable reasons and obtain prior approval.

This committee came into being after perusing the written requests made to the President from time to time to change the positions of the Chairman and Board of Directors of the State Corporations, Statutory Boards, and State-Owned Enterprises.

A letter has been sent directly to all the secretaries of the ministries in this regard with the signature of the President’s Secretary, with copies to the Prime Minister’s Secretary and the Ministry of Finance, Economic Stabilization and National Policy to make the necessary arrangements.
