The government has decided not to allow to use of Galle Face Green for musical performances, political meetings or other activities except for religious activities, with effect from April 20. The Cabinet of Ministers has been granted the relevant approval for the proposal yesterday.
Under a corporate social responsibility (CSR) program conducted by Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) has already spent Rs. 220 million to carry out the development programs.
However, Rs. 6.6 million had to be spent on the repairs carried out to the Galle Face Green due to damages caused during the ‘Aragalaya’ period, The government says.
