The Fort Magistrate Thilina Gamage today issued an order preventing 27 individuals, including General Secretary of the Ceylon Teachers Union Joseph Stalin and Frontline Socialist Party activist Duminda Nawagamuwa, from obstructing roads towards Galle Face while the country celebrates its 75th Independence Day.
The Fort Police and Kollupitiya Police informed the court that police intelligence has received information that civil society activists are preparing to organize a protest on Saturday in a manner that would disrupt the 75th Independence Day celebrations.
