The collapse of Norochcholai is doubtful – Electricity chiefs summoned before tribunal

Senior officials including the General Manager of the Ceylon Electricity Bo9ard have been summoned to appear before the Public Utilities Commission (PUC) for a public hearing as it is suspected that the failure of a 300 MW generator at the Norochcholai power plant is a sabotage operation, the commission chairman Janaka Ratnayake said. Mr. Janaka Ratnayake said that although the Public Utilities Commission as the regulator of the power sector had requested a data and information for the investigation into these breakdowns, it had not been provided by the CEB. He further said that he was summoned to court on March 3rd.
The Chairman of the Public Utilities Commission also stated that allegations and information regarding this act could be submitted to this tribunal.
A 300 MW generator at Norochcholai had broken down on the 3rd of December and malfunctioning the plant over two months have deepen the power crisis The PUCSL chairman further said.
