Teldeniya Covid Hospital declared open today (31)

The Teledeniya hospital which was recently renovated to include with modern amenities to treat up to 100 Covid 19 positive patients was declared open today (31) morning.  

According to sources 21 patients will be initially treated at the hospital. Director-General of the Kandy Teaching Hospital Dr. Saman Ratnayake said the hospital has been renovated according to quarantine principles and that the number of ICU beds have been increased from four to 12.

In 2018 the Teldeniya Hospital was declared a district hospital and was provided with facilities allowing it to carry out specialized surgeries. The recent renovations converting the hospital to one that can treat Covid 19 patients was carried out by the Pallekele Army Camp.
