Tamil diaspora has more money than Sri Lankan economy!

The Sri Lankan Tamil Diaspora has more money than the Sri Lanka’s economy and if the country attract their investments to the North, the 13th Amendment to the Constitution must be enforced and the devolution of power should be confirmed, TNA Parliamentarian M.A. Sumanthiran said.

In an interview with Hiru news team, Sumanthiran said that according to former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, there was a devolution of power beyond 13. He also said that if it was received, he would accept the responsibility of bringing those investments into the country as the Tamil National Aliance.

He said the country could not stop the catastrophe if it did not act with a broad vision at this time. He pointed out that if anyone disliked the proposal, the TNA would not need to intervene.

“People in the north can flee to India,” he said. But those in the South can’t do that either. This is how they have to live, ”he said.

When Victoria Noland, Assistant Secretary of State for Political Affairs at the United States Department of State, called on President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa at the Presidential Secretariat yesterday (23), the President had told her that he would take steps to attract investment from the Tamil Diaspora to Sri Lanka.

The Assistant Secretary had expressed her appreciation for the President’s move.
