Nimal Lansa the recently resigned state minister and another MP have been offered with a cabinet positions political sources said. According to reliable sources in addition three new state ministers are to be appointed including Asanga Navaratne of the Sri Lanka Mahajana Party.
It is reported that Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa has informed the President that Nimal Lansa, a staunch supporter of the party, should be given a cabinet post.
The sources say that the decision was taken due to internal opposition to the formation of the national government.
Meanwhile, the sources reveal that steps have been taken to hold discussions with the people’s representatives of the government who are frustrated with the government and to assign responsibilities to them in the future and thereby obtain their full support for the government’s progress.
It is also said that a separate program has been launched through Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa and former President Maithripala Sirisena to deal with Wimal Weerawansa and his group who are targeting Basil’s opposition and bring them back into the government.
