The Jaffna Magistrate issued an order for the remand of an individual who compelled a female student from Jaffna University to engage in a sexual act by displaying his genitalia, yesterday (10). The remand is effective until the 20th.
Furthermore, the magistrate has directed that the accused be examined by a doctor at Jaffna Teaching Hospital, with a comprehensive medical report to be presented in court on the designated date.
The incident occurred as the Jaffna University student was returning to her dormitory following a lecture. In a desolate area, the assailant coerced the student into sexual intercourse.
Upon the student’s complaint to the police, the authorities promptly apprehended the suspect, who was subsequently presented before the Jaffna court.
