Education and Higher Education Minister Susil Premajayantha who went to open an unfinished building in the campus had to turn back as the students of Kilinochchi campus of Jaffna University staged an intense protest against his visit to open the unfinished building today.
According to the reporters the minister ws not allowed to enter the university premises as the students protests intensified.
The minister came to inaugurate the yet-to-be-completed Faculty of Technology building at Kilinochchi University and the protesting students said that they cannot allow the opening of an unfinished building for political reasons.
The university students had launched this protest before the minister’s visit to the campus because they had received advance information about the minister’s arrival.
The protest started by the students of Kilinochchi University Faculty of Technology has received support from other faculties in a short time.
