Subsidiary company of Sri Lanka’s Dedigama group has bought a leading hotel in United Kingdom. According to UK’s Derbyshire Live News Agency, Cathedral Quarter Hotel, a Grade ii listed Hotel in St. Mary’s gate has been sold to Rashmi Dedigama and Peter Karan of Lavendish Leisure a subsidiary of Dedigama group of Sri Lanka. However they have not disclosed the amount they paid for the deal.
The hotel earned public attention after the late Queen Elizabeth has dined in the hotel in 2010 and the head chef was appreciated personally by her. Consisted with 38 ensuite rooms a Victorian building has previously used as a police station as well as a council headquarters, the news report further mentions.
In 2008 previous owners have bought the property and converted as a hotel.
