A Sri Lankan Tamil resident tragically lost his life yesterday (06) when a bridge collapsed on a railway line in a suburb of France.
The deceased, identified as Thambiraza Parkunaraja Namati, aged 55, hailed from Jaffna, Sri Lanka. He had been residing in Colombo before moving to France 19 years ago. Namati was employed as a construction department employee at Bouygues Travaux Publics, a company involved in railway infrastructure projects.
The incident occurred while workers from Bouygues Travaux Publics were constructing a bridge over the railway tracks in Labage, a suburb of France. Suddenly, the bridge broke, causing it to collapse and resulting in four people, including Namati, sustaining serious injuries. Despite efforts, Namati succumbed to his injuries.
Authorities in France, including railway and construction officials, are investigating the incident.
