The Sri Lanka Air Force has appointed a special committee to investigate the crash of a PT-6 aircraft, used for training pilots, that resulted in the loss of two officers. The aircraft, which was an essential component of the No. 01 Flight Training Wing at the Sri Lanka Air Force Chinavaraya Academy, met with the tragic accident in the Chinavaraya camp area.

The Air Force Commander, Air Marshal Udeni Rajapaksa, personally inspected the accident site and subsequently decided to establish an investigation committee to delve into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

According to reports, the flight took off at 11:25 am today (07), but tragically crashed just two minutes later, around 11:27 am.

The ill-fated aircraft was piloted by Wing Commander Taridu Herath, a distinguished alumnus of Kurunegala Maliadeva College. He joined the Sri Lanka Air Force as a pilot in 2006 and was a dedicated father to three children.
