Internal crises have been created in relation to the selection of a new President on the 20th, within all parties except the National People’s Power sources said.

Internal political sources further say that due to the internal crises that have arisen in the paries, particularly in Sri Lanka Freedom Party, Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna, Samagi Jana Balawega and the Tamil National Alliance. The sources speculate that the parties will split by the 20th ,the day of selecting a President through a parliamentary process following the resignation of the President Gotabaya Rajapaksa.

While the Secretary General of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna has expressed their party support for Ranil Wickramasinghe, the Party Chairman Prof G.L Pieris has expressed support for Dallas Alahapperuma.

Thus, due to the fact that the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna is divided into two parties, several of its MPs are reportedly considering to stay in a position that they should not support both Dallas Alahapperuma and Ranil Wickramasinge .

Going against the decision taken by the Sri Lanka Freedom Party to support the Dallas Alahapperum, a group of its MPs have come forward to support Ranil Wickramasinghe.

Sajith Premadasa, the leader of the Samagi Jana Balavegaya and the leader of the opposition, has announced that he will contest for the vacant post of executive president. The leader of the opposition said in a Twitter message that he believes that truth will win even if the former president’s side has the majority power out of the 225 members of parliament.

Meanwhile, a group of Samagi Jana Balawega has expressed their agreement to vote for Ranil Wickramasinghe. That agreement has been expressed by several MPs of several political parties who are together with Samagi Janabalawega. They have held a special discussion with wickramasinghe.

Negotiations have started to support TNA to support Sajith Premadasa. A few members of that alliance have built a dissension to support Ranil Wickremesinghe.

Meanwhile, it is reported to Lankasara that Sajith Premadasa has a plan to withdraw from the presidential race at the last minute and give his support to Dallas Alahapperum.

However, political sources indicate that due to the current situation, there is a risk that the internal crises between the parties will intensify and the parties will break up by the 20th.
