The Secretary of the main party in the government Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna , MP Sagara Kariyawasam sees a threat as to the former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa as the emergence of diaspora activities in Sri Lanka and an additional security should be provided to him comparing to other former presidents. Since Mr Rajapaksa was the defence secretary when the LTTE was defeated he believes the threat still exists against him.

He stated this while addressing a media conference held in Colombo yesterday.

He also said that no objection has been raised regarding the facilities or security provided to him and the government and security forces have paid attention to the activities of the diaspora.

“We went to meet the former president, but nothing was discussed about politics. He did not tell us anything about future political decisions.. He only shared with us the experiences gained during the past one and a half months..
