The Central Committee of the SLFP is scheduled to meet today (16) to discuss whether to take over the ministries of the new government to be formed under Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.
The meeting will further discuss the Prime Minister’s written request to the SLFP to assist the new government in finding a solution to the current economic crisis.
Former President Maithripala Sirisena, the chairman of the SLFP, had earlier responded to Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe by saying that the SLFP would support any correct decision taken by the new government.
However, the SLFP will continue to discuss its responsibility at this critical juncture.
