Four individuals from the north, who had gone to Canada and were extorting money and other property from wealthy individuals, were arrested by the Canadian police yesterday (22nd).

These four young men, who had traveled to Canada from the regions of Jaffna, Mullaitivu, and Kilinochchi, had entered Canada on tourist visas.
The arrested individuals have been identified as 35-year-old Sukirthan Sivanesan, Mahinthan Sivalingam, Jesinthan Sivalingam, and Henry Neranjan.
The four of them, while attempting to extort one million Canadian dollars from a property owner in the Pinkoat area of Canada, were apprehended by the police.
Investigations revealed that the four individuals had also extorted money from several residents in areas such as Quebec and Dollard-des-Ormeaux in Canada.
The Canadian police continue to interrogate these individuals.
