A draft of the 21st Amendment to the Constitution, which repeals the 20th Amendment to the Constitution, is due to be presented to Parliament today (21) by the main opposition party, Samagi Jana Balawegaya.
A senior party leader who is preparing to hand over the draft to the Speaker this morning told Lankasara.
It is learned that the government is now aware of the importance of repealing the 20th Amendment and the Prime Minister has stated this in Parliament and the ruling party has informed the party leaders about this at the party leadership meeting held last Monday.
He further stated that the Samagi Janabalavega had prepared these drafts with the assistance of its their legal experts.
