Ranjith Siyambalapitiya has once again resigned from the post of Deputy Speaker.
When inquired about this, the General Secretary of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party Dayasiri Jayasekara said that he had resigned in response to the protests against him.
Ranjith Siyambalapitiya, who resigned from the post of Deputy Speaker after the Sri Lanka Freedom Party left the government and joined the opposition, ran for the post of Deputy Speaker again yesterday and became the Deputy Speaker with a majority of 148 votes.
Subsequently, strong criticism of him arose from the community and from within Parliament itself.
