The Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) has requested the Director General of Health Services to provide separate reports of rapid antigen testing and PCR testing.

Rapid antigen testing can detect large cases with a significant amount of virus in the body. As these people can infect a large number of people they should be identified separately and action taken to control the spread of the disease, Dr. Haritha Aluthge of the GMOA said.

Dr. Aluthge pointed out that this is a very dangerous situation as cases are now being reported in clusters in areas outside the city of Colombo.
