The Department of Meteorology says several spells of showers will occur in the Northern and Eastern provinces and in the Puttalam District on Sunday (22).
According to the weather forecast issued at 2.00 p.m. on Saturday (21), showers or thundershowers are also expected at several places in other parts of the country after 1.00 p.m. Fairly heavy rainfall exceeding 75 mm is likely at some locations.
Misty conditions are expected in parts of the Central and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in the Galle, Matara and Kalutara districts during the early hours of the morning.
The general public has been requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
