A horrific accident unfolded today (21) during the 28th edition of the ‘Fox Hill Super Cross’ event organized by the Sri Lanka Military Academy Diyatalawa in collaboration with Sri Lanka Automobile Sports (SLAS). The event, held in Diyatalawa, witnessed a car veering off the track, claiming the lives of seven individuals and leaving eighteen others with serious injuries.
According to sources at Diyatalawa Hospital, where the injured were rushed for treatment, the facility is grappling with the influx of patients, with only limited capacity for surgical procedures. As of now, two patients are undergoing surgery, while efforts are underway to transfer six others to Badulla Hospital to alleviate the strain on resources.
The gravity of the situation was further emphasized by a hospital spokesperson, who revealed that an army officer, sustaining severe hand injuries, was immediately transferred to Badulla Hospital for urgent care.
Despite the dire circumstances, hospital authorities assured that the utmost level of medical attention is being provided to all patients, with special emphasis on the two individuals reported to be in critical condition.
