Legendary Sri Lankan Singer Senaka Batagoda Passes Away at 66

It is with deep sorrow that we inform you of the passing of veteran singer Senaka Batagoda, a beloved figure in Sri Lankan music. He passed away today (11th) at the age of 66 while receiving treatment at Ragama Hospital.

Senaka Batagoda was an extraordinary musician known for his timeless contributions to the industry. Among his most cherished songs are “Sihina Viman,” “Nidimathi Raya,” “Sanasennam Ma,” and “Api Sanasille,” which continue to resonate with fans.

A true innovator, Batagoda explored and experimented with various musical genres, from traditional Sri Lankan folk music to internationally recognized styles. His work is distinguished by a unique blend of musical traditions, bringing together different influences to create a distinct sound.

His lyrics, simple yet profound, were elevated by the music he composed, leaving a lasting impact on the hearts of many.
