Within a span of just 24 hours, a second fatal accident has occurred in Vavuniya due to collisions with cattle on the highways. These two accidents have claimed the lives of three individuals and left ten others hospitalized with severe injuries.

The most recent fatal accident transpired near the Pampamaduwa army camp on the Vavuniya Mannaram Road. It occurred after a Defender car collided with a sleeping cow on the Vavuniya Horovpatana road late last night.

As a result of the collision between the cow and a motorcycle, the son who was driving the motorcycle sustained serious injuries, while the mother, who was traveling behind the motorcycle, tragically lost her life at the scene.

The deceased has been identified as a 45-year-old mother named Wijeratnam Jayantini, hailing from Kurukkalpudukulam village in Vavuniya. Her injured son, Wijeratnam Sivaroyan, is currently undergoing treatment at the Vavuniya General Hospital.
