Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa accuses the government that although a 14-member Presidential Task Force has been set up for green agriculture, there are no experts or veterans in the field of agriculture.
The Leader of the Opposition said that billions of rupees had been allocated to implement the recommendations of the relevant task force.
The Leader of the Opposition questioned whether a group of 14 people could take decisions on agriculture in this country and said that the budget presented by the present government did not include any vision on agriculture.
He said that the government did not present a development budget at all and that the government that came to win the people was creating a queue era and taking the country backwards.
The Leader of the Opposition said this while participating in the Samagi Jana Balawegaya agitation held in Polgahawela today (13).
He said that the government has presented a budget that has no solution to the existing problems in the country and has only opened the way for the government’s henchmen and allies by taking commissions.
He said that although funds should be allocated for research and development activities for the development of agriculture, the government has not allocated any funds for that.
The Leader of the Opposition said that the government believes in myths instead of science and that it has pushed this country into a deep abyss.
The Leader of the Opposition said that the government had promised to pay compensation to the farmers for the damage caused to their crops and that no provision of 5 cents had been allocated for this purpose in this budget.
The Leader of the Opposition said that this was not a budget that would solve the problem, but a budget that would create problems.
The Leader of the Opposition said that an organic fertilizer mafia was being formed through these people and questioned whether it was a ploy to provide relief to the government’s cronies.
