The life of former CID Director SSP Shani Abeysekera is in a threat and there is a suspicion that he will be killed in a natural way Leader of Opposition Sajith Premadasa said in Parliament today (23). He also pointed out that in this backdrop the government responsibility is to protect his life ar best.
The Leader of the Opposition stressed that a plan should be drawn up with the attention of the Minister of Defense to save his life.
Addressing Parliament this morning, Sajith Premadasa said that the current government’s actions against Shani Abeysekera were very regrettable and cowardly.
Responding to this, the Leader of the House, Minister of Education Dinesh Gunawardena stated that there are certain allegations against Shani Abeysekara and that they are being investigated and that it is the responsibility of the government to protect all persons arrested or detained and the government will take steps to protect such persons.
He also said that the previous government had arrested and detained Deputy Inspector General of Police Anura Senanayake and that the then government let systematically ruin his life and that the present government was not intending to accept anyone in such a manner.
