Rs. 300 Million worth of heroin and ICE seized in Marawila

A joint operation by the Navy and the Excise Department has led to the arrest of a stock of narcotics worth Rs. 300 million in Marawila today (06).

According to the security forces, 100 kilograms of heroin and 100 kilograms of ice were found in the stock of narcotics.

After being brought by sea the stock had been unloaded in the Thoduwawa area and the consignment of drugs was found hidden in the generator of a broom truck and prepared for transportation. The truck was apprehended while parked in the yard of a house.

Investigations have revealed that the packaging of the drugs was different from the previous packages and that extensive investigations have been launched into the matter. At present 04 persons have been arrested.
